Making sure the children are at the centre of all we do and allowing choice in their learning through effective agency has always been a key principle of effective learning, which is highly consistent with IB PYP framework. G2 Chinese teaching takes this as a starting point to provide the best opportunities for the learners.

以学习者为中心,充分调动和发挥学习者的主观能动性一直是有效学习的核心环节,更与IB教育理念高度契合。二年级语文教学以此为出发点进行了有效尝试。

On May 11, at the students-led conference, G2 students used word cards to play word games with their parents to see how they were able to manage as students! On the cards there were different Chinese character parts, just like playing card games. Students and parents took turns to show their cards. Those who could form Chinese characters, loudly read the word and made a sentence to get points. The children had a lot of fun with their parents. Everyone was immersed in the warm atmosphere, and eventually everyone rushed to become the "literacy king"! This kind of activity, with a strong sense of participation, is a community of classroom teaching and learning.

在5月11日的小学部学生主导会议上,二年级同学使用生字卡片和父母一起玩组字游戏,比拼谁更眼疾手快。生字卡片上是各式各样的汉字偏旁或部首,就像扑克牌一样。游戏中,学生和家长依次取牌、亮牌。每当有人能够最先用手中的偏旁、部首组成汉字,并且大声地组一个词语、造一个句子,就可以吃掉对方的卡片。孩子们和家长玩得不亦乐乎。在热烈的现场气氛烘托下,每个人都沉浸其中,争先恐后要成为“识字大王”!这种参与感极强的活动正是小学部语文课堂的一个缩影。


On May 17, G2 students finished their Learning Assembly. Children prepared an audio-visual presentation which integrated UOI - "Sharing the Planet" with Chinese traditional culture and fully demonstrated the ‘Risk-taking spirit in the PYP learners' profile. The up-beat English song "Try Everything" started the show, children used footage from "Zootopia" to express their love for nature, animals, and life. This was followed by a brilliant solo and African drum performance "Flowers All the Way". The singer's confidence and generosity and the drummers' devotion fully demonstrated the children's creativity.

5月17日,二年级的同学们迎来了本学期的探究学习成果展示。孩子们精心准备了这场视听盛宴,将“共享地球”的探究单元和中国传统文化融合,既有集体演出,又有个人才艺展示,充分彰显了IB理念所倡导的勇于尝试的精神品质。活动由一首高亢激昂的英文歌曲《Try everything》拉开序幕,孩子们用电影《疯狂动物城》的这首插曲表达对自然、动物和生活的热爱。紧接着,是精彩纷呈的独唱与非洲鼓表演《一路生花》。歌手自信大方,鼓手全情投入,他们的表演充分展现了孩子们的创造力。随后出场的是轻松欢快的钢琴四手联弹,展现了小钢琴家们辛勤练习的成果。孩子们的才艺展示让现场观众应接不暇,赞叹不已。


When it comes to blending traditional culture, the catchy tune and lively dance of "Yongliu" connect what students learn in textbooks with their own interests. The children’s beaming faces, sweet singing, and captivating dance moves are their genuine way of expressing themselves. During the grand finale performance of "Learning Ancient Poems," the rappers brought an infectious rhythm that got everyone's attention. All the children enthusiastically sang along with the music, showing their heartfelt gratitude to their parents.

在传统文化融合环节,一首悠扬婉转的歌伴舞《咏柳》巧妙地将课本所学知识与孩子们的兴趣相结合。鲜活的笑脸,悠扬的歌声,娇俏的舞姿,这些都是孩子们真挚情感的表达。而在压轴曲目《学古诗》的表演中,说唱演员们令观众眼前一亮,所有孩子随着音乐的节奏动情地放声歌唱,表达对父母的感恩之情。



The Learning Assembly fully mobilised children's enthusiasm and participation, stimulating their love for Chinese learning and cultivating their appreciation for the beauty of music, dance, and other arts. Every child showcased their most confident side. Mobilising their subjective initiative and enhancing their sense of participation were the consistent directions of Chinese teaching and learning in FCG Primary School.

这次的学习集会充分调动了孩子们的积极性和参与热情,激发了他们对于语文学科的热爱,陶冶了他们对音乐、舞蹈等艺术之美的情操,每个孩子都在这个活动中展现出了最自信闪耀的一面。积极调动学习者的主观能动性,不断提升学习体验感和参与感,是广州市斐特思学校小学部语文学习始终不变的方向。
