Inquiry-based learning is a method of learning based on questioning, autonomy, and discovery, aimed at cultivating students' spirit of inquiry and problem-solving abilities. Second-grade students at Fettes College Guangzhou are currently engaging in an inquiry around the theme "How the World Works," exploring different types of weather, the relationship between technology and weather, and how people utilise weather phenomena and technological advancements to improve their lives.

Throughout this process, the library becomes a crucial space for students to gather information and resources for their group inquiries. They determine the specific weather types they want to delve into based on their interests, form different groups, and visit the library as a group to access books, analyse articles, and select key information for discussion and recording. The IB curriculum emphasises the development of students' information literacy and research skills, and the library, as an information resource centre, provides opportunities for students to search, filter, evaluate, and utilise information.

Additionally, during their personalised in-depth inquiry, students used the online digital book platform called MyON. MyON offers thousands of books and articles covering various topics and reading levels. When selecting resources, the guiding teachers considered the readability, depth, and adaptability of the resources to ensure they matched the students' grade level and interests. Different texts with varying levels of difficulty were chosen within the same theme to meet the students' learning needs and help them explore the topic from different perspectives. Through MyON, students can easily access e-books and articles related to their learning theme that their teachers have placed on personalised bookshelves within the Projects section of MyON.

By combining the resources of the library and the MyON online digital book platform, students will be able to access a wide range of information sources and develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and information literacy skills in their inquiry-based learning. This comprehensive utilisation of resources will stimulate students' interest in learning and cultivate their abilities for collaboration and independent exploration.
