New Life in EY2

"From Incubation to Growth" - We have successfully hatched six eggs, embarking on a journey filled with anticipation and delight! Every day, the children diligently monitor the temperature in the incubation box, ensuring the healthy development of the chicks. Finally, in the early morning of March 22nd, two lively chicks, named "Rabbit" and "Chocolate," successfully hatched. This experience instilled in the children a sense of responsibility and care, while fostering their patience and perseverance. We hope these two chicks will thrive and become joyful companions for the children, and this memorable experience will remain a cherished part of their childhood memories.

In addition to hatching chickens, we also demonstrated the process of milk production and honey extraction to the children using physical models and hands-on experiences.

Milking Production

In order to explain the milk production process to the children, we created a model of a cow. We explained that cows produce milk to nourish their calves, and that milk is obtained from the cow's udders. Each child had the opportunity to personally experience the process of milking. After the activity, the children expressed their appreciation for the hard work involved in milking, recognising the value of milk and the effort put into its production.

Honey Extraction

In order to explain the process of making honey, we made a beehive and prepared some flowers. We explain to the children that bees collect nectar from flowers and store them in the hive. By flapping their wings, bees dry the nectar and transform it into honey, which they consume during the winter. After explaining this process, the children had the opportunity to taste real honey. They enjoyed the sweetness of the honey, although they did not particularly favour the texture of beeswax.

Honey

Eggciting Day

We had an engaging exchange with students from the Fettes College in the UK, which provided the children with a unique journey of learning and play. They enthusiastically assisted in making egg-shaped cookies, designing elaborate egg patterns, and organising exciting egg hunting games. This activity was more than just a simple handicraft; it was an opportunity for cross-cultural exchange and the formation of new friendships. The children actively participated in the games alongside their newfound friends from diverse cultural backgrounds, brimming with vitality and happiness. Through these experiences, they cultivated teamwork, mutual support, and developed respect and understanding for multiculturalism. Such activities allowed the children to embrace the warmth and friendship emanating from different cultures, creating lasting memories that they will treasure.
